Direct Primary Care (DPC) is an innovative alternative subscription model that facilitates access to high functioning healthcare with a simple, flat, affordable membership fee. No fee-for-service payments, no third party billing. In essence, DPC allows a patient to maintain an enduring and trusting relationship with their primary care provider. In this model of care, physicians can dedicate more time to their patients as appointments are not scheduled in unreasonably tight time frames. Patients have extraordinary access to a physician, and this physician will not be changed even if the patient changes their health insurance in the future.
In sum, DPC is a primary care practice model that is directly reimbursed by the patient for both doctor access and primary health care services. Unlike many concierge practices, however, a DPC practice does not accept or bill third-party payers.
